Vocational Education in the Digital Workplace
- 2. 10. 2018
The new study commission „Vocational Education in the Digital Workplace“ started its work on Thursday. In the next two and a half years, 19 members of the German Bundestag and 19 external experts will be discussing the new challenges faced by vocational education and training in the face of digitization. The enquete was commissioned to „examine the development prospects of vocational education and training in the future world of work and to examine the economic and social potentials of modernization,“ said Bundestag President Schäuble. It is particularly important that the equivalence of vocational and academic education is strengthened, said the President of the Bundestag.
„For me personally, the importance of vocational training as the basis of our economic power can not be overestimated,“ said the commission’s chairman, Stefan Kaufmann. He stressed the high profile of vocational education abroad, but also emphasized that the system could become even better. „It needs an update, which is a force that can only be done together in many individual steps,“ said Kaufmann. In the enquete, one wants to work away from the daily politics on a sound analysis with concrete recommendations for action for the policy work.
The panel brings together experts from trade unions, continuing education, teacher training, universities and research institutes, business, schools and education.
